HERMANTOWN, Minn.– A barbeque fundraiser for an Iron Range woman battling breast cancer raised nearly $10,000 this weekend.
The food truck Tig’s Smok’n Pig BBQ held an event Saturday at Harley-Davidson in Hermantown with a raffle and 100 percent of proceeds sold from his truck going to 31-year-old Elizabeth Johnson and her family, who live up in Goodland on the Iron Range.
The owner of the food truck says Elizabeth and her family were blown away from all the community support.
“Absolutely astounded at how it’s been going. And they’ve just sat back and they’re just in awe of the outpouring of caring and helpful people in the community to come out for them,” said Tig of Tig’s Smok’n Pig BBQ.

DULUTH, Minn.– As a Goodland woman is battling breast cancer again, one food truck owner in Duluth is looking to help the Iron Range family any way they can and they’re inviting the Twin Ports community to do the same this Saturday.
Up on the Iron Range, 31 year old Elizabeth Johnson has been battling Triple-Positive Breast Cancer over the last year. Now, a family she’s never met is putting on an event to help raise money for her and enjoy some good food.
Troy Fralich is the owner of the Tig’s Smok’n Pig BBQ food truck that goes around Duluth selling their barbeque at spots like Duluth Cider. But they weren’t just selling food there Thursday, they were also letting people know about a benefit for Elizabeth and her family this weekend.

There is a great community event featuring good eats from a local meat smoker coming up on Saturday, May 8th. Tig s Smok n Pig BBQ Food Truck will be stationed at the Harley Davidson Sports Center in Duluth.
In my mind, the event is kind of like a kick-off to summer riding. What better way to celebrate than with pulled pork, brisket, and other smoked meats, all while getting some shopping done too. It s also a nice destination if you want to plan on doing a group ride that day. Get some miles on the bikes and then make the stop for lunch to help support a local food vendor. Tig s is family owned and operated and even has hand crafted BBQ sauces to go with the smoked meat, should you want it.
